Dr. Martin H. Baker Jr. grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and was exposed to dentistry from the beginning of his life. His father, grandfather, and uncle were practicing dentists. He attended Millsaps College where he completed his predental curriculum in three years. He then attended Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans and received his Doctoral of Dental Surgery. Following graduation, he pursued postdoctoral training in orthodontics and attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. At Georgetown, he received his Orthodontic Certification and completed a thesis earning a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics.
For more than three decades Dr. Baker has been participating in organized dentistry. He has served organized dentistry as an official representative in many positions and completing many additional certifications and accredited courses.
Dr. Baker is a member of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi Dental Association, the South Mississippi Dental Society, the Laurel Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontics, the Mississippi Association of Orthodontics, and the American Board of Orthodontists.
Dr. Baker has also served as a trustee to the Mississippi Dental Association, President of the Third District of the Mississippi Dental Association, President of the South Mississippi Dental Society, President of the Laurel Dental Society, President of the Mississippi Association of Orthodontics, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists
